Britain is now officially
the most unequal nation of all the western economies and where the vast majority of
their people do not live in a meritocracy, but a country that is predominantly managed
and controlled by a 'minority' financial, economic and political 'Elite'.

Politicians and
great speakers tell us that we live in a country based upon 'merit' and it is
not who you know but your skills, knowledge and experience that count to provide
you with a secure and long-term successful future. Unfortunately nothing could
be further away from the truth when it comes to the 10% richest people in
the nation or the world for that matter. For most who control the policies, directions and laws of the United
Kingdom have got to where they are not predominantly through their skills,
knowledge and experience (although this has played a minor role) but from their
background and who they are and who they know.
The prime minister
David Cameron and chancellor of the exchequer George Osborn just two political
elites who have got where they are, not through sheer merit, but where they have
come from and who they know. Indeed there are debatably far better qualified
people who could run the country better.
But it has to be
stated also that there is a major controlling mechanism that keeps normal and
well qualified people out of the 'elite' club.
This controlling mechanism
involves all the senior business executives of our largest companies, senior
Whitehall civil servants and mandarins, political party leaders and senior
politicians, senior military figures and the politicians who run Britain. All control
the people and their futures. So if they determine that a certain economic
strategy has to be adopted (the most important decision-making process of all)
and it is in the 'elites' direct interests (increased wealth), but not in the
interests of the majority (higher living standards), they will adopt the former vested-interest above
where the vast numbers would benefit - that is what is happing consistently where the rewards for the elitist few override the long-term benefits/rewards of the many. Basically they look after themselves and
pass this elite dynasty down to all their succeeding family members and well
connected friends. This goes on infinitum and where nothing really changes from
one generation to the next - the infinitum model. The effect of this control mechanism to keep the
people down and where the wealth of the nation is never distributed. One has only to look at, as an example, the
vast differences in wage rises over the past 5 years between the CEOs of our
larger companies and where they have received on average 31% annual increases on
their remuneration in comparison to their employers who have struggled to get
even 1% if they are lucky.
But this
controlling goes further and where it encompasses all manner of 'close to the
wind' activities. One as an example of many is where the former Labour government's secretary
of state for culture, media and the arts after a few years was made one of the
BBC's top executives on a £300,000+ package (now probably pushing £500,000).
When asked by Jeremy Paxman on Newsnight if he was the best qualified and
experienced person for the job, he replied that he was. When Paxman asked him
why he was the only name on the selection list. He could not in a coherent way
answer Paxman. Therefore if we live in a meritocracy as espoused by the 'elite',
how come the former culture secretary was the only person interviewed by the
BBC (and that is debateable if he ever was interviewed at all). But this is
just the tip of the iceberg of how the 'elite' that control the UK operate and
a mere single example. Could this happen if we actually lived in meritocracy
society? The clear answer is no and therefore when you look deeply into how the
'elite' operate we start to realise that this so-called meritocracy society
just does not exist, for the elites make it that way for their continual
control of the people (both politically and financially). Oh by the way, the
former culture secretary concerned already had a fat political pension and
other perks that would satisfy 90% of the people of Britain for life. Therefore
the assertion that we live in meritocracy in Britain today, is unreal and clearly just does not exist.
Bankers, corporate
leaders and political leaders have all primarily been appointed not on their
basic merit, but on who they know. Cameron, Miliband and Clegg in the political spectrum have all come
from this elite mechanism that controls the nation. Indeed put someone into
power that will look after their own (the elites), and you have political and economic control to do
whatever you wish.
This control
mechanism is all encompassing as the rich and powerful predominately call all
the shots behind the scenes, as they give to all political parties the vast majority
of revenues for the political leaders
and future administrations to use on their political campaigns. Eventually
there is a payback as with all things when you give to business in politics.
As an example, currently over 50% of the conservative party donations are from hedge fund managers, so they must be after something for sure in the long-term one would surmise? This is also where the 'honours' system comes into play and where the 'highest'
honours invariably go to the political supporters. Therefore the vast majority
of the most prestigious national honours (knighthoods and peerages) are aligned
to not what you know but who you know and what you have done to keep the elite
club in motion. This elite control mechanism involves the elites in politics,
finance, economics, business, military (to keep the people down if ever an
uprising occurs - yes, we are no different to a third world dictatorship here
in reality as the military have to be looked after by their own elites), Whitehall
and institutional regulators. But we can derive great comfort that many have seen through this honours system for what it really is, a political tool to keep their own in line predominantly. Indeed even the great Faraday (inventor of the means to create electricity at will and where without it everything would come to a sudden halt, even for the elites) several centuries ago knew the worth of knighthoods and sent it back. He told the government of the time that he did not want it and would die as he was born and simply a mere Mr. Faraday. For even the great genius knew that the honours system was a worthless piece of complicity that controlled people. Thankfully Faraday never lost his roots and really knew how 'real' life was like for the majority, poverty stricken and being suppressed. Unfortunately although things are better than his times, the same social and wealth inequality characteristics in relative terms are still predominant today.
Overall
in this 'elitist' mechanism, the top 10% control the remaining 90% so that the
rich get richer and the majority get poorer. Indeed since the 'crash' in 2008
the rich have got richer and richer but where 90% of the people in Britain and
across the globe have got poorer officially. This has never happened before in
the history of financial 'crashes' and
where in all previous financial meltdowns, everyone has become significantly poorer in relative
terms. But the greatest difference this time though to all others, is that the
90% of taxpayers who have got poorer have funded the banks and giant corporates
so that they can survive. Therefore the
poorer elements of our society have had to pay to keep the wealthy afloat through
taxation and vast increases in national debt. The big problem is that although
the poorer majority have had to take on all this debt, the rich who they saved
can just leave the country if they wished and have no debt to pay at all - 'nothing to do with me guv'. Considering
this we see how the 'elite' mechanism never affects the elite group, but
constantly impoverishes 90% of the British people.

Indeed looking at the current state of affairs, government and the ONS are stating that the UK is the fastest growing
economy in the developed world. Therefore if this is so, where is all the newly created money going, as it certainly is not going into the pockets of at least 55
million-plus of the British people? The answer of course is that it is going into the pockets
of the rich 10% and not the 90% of people who saved this minority controlling
elite group. Unfortunately things will not get any better as wage rises have been stalled by both large business and government (where the former has made vastly increased profits instead for the elites - overridingly not sharing this considerable new wealth with the employees has been the case) but where the elite club is totally
flourishing and richer than ever before...at the expense of the greater part by
far of the British people.
Therefore this 'elite' mechanism is against the majority
of the British people's interests (both presently and in the future) and only a
mechanism and recipe for the minority to get richer and richer. For even though the
government knows about the constantly growing inequality problem in Britain today, they do
little to change the status quo. In this respect a rebalance is required and
quickly and where an increase in the minimum wage would slightly help to bridge the vast
inequality gap. But the elites will say that this will destroy jobs of course as
they always do, but where in essence they say this because of their greed and that it will take money from them. They simply do not care. Unlike the tens of millions that are suffering in
the nation today and who do need such a redistribution of the nation's wealth as an overriding and primary consideration.
Therefore the government could quickly take steps to change
things but where I doubt even Labour will change matters as they have become
totally remote to the wishes of normal working class people (indeed what Keir Hardie created their
party for and the majority working class people, but destroyed and corrupted by the ideology and thinking of Blair et al). Indeed
the bankers that Blair cosied up to are still getting their massive bonus one
way or the other and this cycle in the controlling 'elitist' system carries on as it
has done now for decades. Look after your own is the modus operandi here whether you are a labour multi-millionaire or a Tory multi-millionaire, for there is no difference when you are in the 'elite' club. Keir Hardie would turn in his grave if he knew what Blair had done to modern politics in Britain today and to his vision of a worker's political party that brought a balance into politics, working solely for the vast majority of the people and the underprivileged.
The
question is how therefore can we break this cycle of looking after the minority
rich and not the majority of the people in Britain? The answer lies in mindsets and changing
people's views of politics for a start and make 'Democracy' what it should be,
not the controlling 'Partyocracy' that we presently have which looks after the
top 10% rich in the United Kingdom today, no matter what party is in power. Indeed what we have now is Partyocracy and not Democracy anymore as the 'Party' means everything and the people's votes are just a mere tool to get the 'Party' in power. It is therefore a deceptive mechanism that makes the people believe that they are the ones who the politicians work for but where in reality, it is the party machine that they work for and who is the ultimate beneficiary, not the people as they are just mere pawns in the whole political process.
Unfortunately
the 'elite' group has a very clever model of control over the people and where
once an entrepreneur has emerged from the grass-roots with enough financial and
economic power, they quickly welcome him or her into the 'club' and where they might have been most probably once a normal social entrepreneur (but eventually blinded by the honours that the elite group offer to the new member);
keeping the control mechanism in place and the balance of power continually against the
majority of the people (approximately 90% of them).
Therefore
considering that this elitist mechanism is constantly destroying the standards
of living of the majority, the people will have to start looking at ways of
defeating the current political parties. In this respect there is only one way
that the people can do this and that is to vote for 'independent' candidates that
align themselves nearest to the person's own views. Some may say that we will
get idiots into politics and possibly they are right in this respect to a certain
extent, but do they really think that we have not got idiots in charge already,
for we have, as the economic inequality shows no signs of changing and where we have the worst inequality
record in any western industrialised country. Unfortunately this wealth gap between the 'minority have' and 'majority have-nots' is getting wider by the
year. Overall therefore the rich are increasingly getting richer (if that can be a consolation for the tens
of millions suffering in the Britain today) and where the 'elite' club only really benefits, no-one else, themselves.
Things
have therefore to change and if not, we shall certainly see an increasing vision of the
United Kingdom than none of us will really like to see; not even for the 'elites'
themselves as they will be the ones who the people eventually focus their anger and violence on. Indeed something that governments and the elites should not underestimate as people can only take so much before forced change occurs and a social upheaval chain-reaction becomes critical and beyond national control.
